The CDO and the Vassar Club of NY co-sponsor alumnae/i career panels on a variety of topics, including publishing; advertising, marketing, and public relations; entreprenuership; finance, and more.
The CDO regularly sponsors information sessions from a variety of organizations who want to recruit Vassar students. Previous employers who have held information sessions include: Teach for America, Oliver Wyman, Carney, Sandoe, and Associates, JP Morgan, PeaceCorps, INROADS, JET, and many more.

The Fall Recruiting Consortium brings together students from Vassar, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Swarthmore, Sarah Lawrence and Wesleyan Colleges for a day of interviews in New York City with a variety of organizations. This year, the event will be held on Friday, October 24, 2008. For consideration, students must apply by 11:59 pm (EST) on September 29, 2008.
Are you wondering what the next step in your future planning will be? This workshop will guide you through several activities designed to help you to explore ways to try and answer this difficult question. We will explore where your interests and skills lie as well as how things like values and personality affect career choice. You will also learn how to use this information to help you explore major selection and future planning questions.

Vassar College will host their annual Graduate and Professional School Day in the fall of 2008. The tentative date is Wednesday, September 17, 2008. A variety of graduate and professional schools will come to campus and give students the opportunity to meet with admission and program representatives from a variety of institutions.
Students: Check back for additional information and a list of schools registered. This information will be available in late summer.

The U.S. Peace Corps, M&T Bank, Harper Collins Publishers, JET Program and Teach for America, are a few of the many organizations involved in On-Campus Recruiting. Explore your attitudes about money and doing work for the common good. This session is a frank talk about money, non-profit/government salaries, and other forms of compensation. Come to learn about the realities of a non-profit/government salary (what is reasonable to expect and the kinds of salaries that non-profit/government employees earn), examine your attitudes about money/wealth/power, and think about your future financial decisions. The workshop will also include tools and information about personal finance, loan consolidation/cancellation/postponement, budgeting, and other practical matters. An Engaged Life presentation.
Make sure your resume is letter perfect. Learn the components of a fine resume and have your resume critiqued by several eyes. Food and music provided. Bring a resume (name optional) to the workshop for critique. RSVP to cdo@vassar.edu if you want to attend.

Through discussion, you will hear from others and share experiences in trying to live a life of purpose. Some say that to enact real systemic change, you should pursue a career in politics. Hear directly from people who work in public policy and for the government. Panelists will talk about how they confront issues such as: working for an administration that does not support their worldview, public cynicism for the government, the notion that government is corrupt or ineffective, and how changes in political administrations or climate can affect their career. The Transgender at Work (TAW) project is a focal point for addressing workplace issues for the transgendered. TAW provides resources for innovative employers who want to set their company employment policies to help their transgendered employees to be at their most productive.
